Based in Brussels, Shir Handelsman is an inter­dis­ci­pli­nary artist whose prac­tice incor­po­rates video and film, sculp­ture, draw­ing, instal­la­tion, pho­tog­ra­phy, and ele­ments of music and sound— explor­ing their con­nec­tions through projects he describes as, ​“sur­re­al and absurd encoun­ters.” His solo exhi­bi­tions include pre­sen­ta­tions at the Herzliya Museum of Contemporary Art; The Jerusalem Artist House, Art Claims Impulse, Berlin, and numer­ous group exhi­bi­tions and film fes­ti­vals, includ­ing, Kunsthal Charlottenborg, Copenhagen; Gyeonggi Museum of Modern Art, Ansan, Korea; Museum of Fine Arts Osijek, Croatia; Out_​Sight Gallery, Seoul; Art Madrid; SecondRoom, Antwerp (Belgium); Aesthetica Short Film Festival, York (UK); Video Art & Experimental Film Festival, New York. Shir received his BFA from Shenkar College’s Department of Multidisciplinary Art after grad­u­at­ing with hon­ors in Literature and Philosophy from Tel Aviv University. In 2024, Shir was an artist-in res­i­dence at The International Studio & Curatorial Program (ISCP), New York.
